The film industry has taken a heavy hit because of the current pandemic. I remember being bummed at the beginning of quarantine... A lot of films (mainly Marvel's Black Widow) that I was looking forward to seeing were being pushed back indefinitely. According to an article by The World Economic Forum, Hollywood supports more than 2 million jobs and 400,000 economic businesses. Physical attendance has declined, and streaming has quickly taken over... And who knows when the industry will go back to normal, or if it will create a new normal.
With that knowledge, I wonder how I will be able to keep people safe while filming. Now, I'm not creating a Hollywood-level production, so I'm not expecting to have such a large crew. But I still want to keep my crew safe. Not everyone will have access to testing, and I don't want to be asking for too much. I want to follow safe, social distancing regulations, but how will that affect my film? Will taking certain risks put my crew and actors at risk? There's a lot to think about now, and it will take strategic planning to execute this film.
This article from Variety explains what it's like to be on set during a pandemic. I plan to take notes from this article to help me figure out how I will produce my film, safely and effectively. Here is the link:
